Sobre los eventos en Instagram

Desde que comencé mi aventura dentro del mundo de la ilustración pude darme cuenta que había todo un mundo nuevo en las redes sociales al respecto. Instagram, por ejemplo, es la que más he estado utilizado y he llegado a conocer el trabajo de muchas ilustradoras talentosas e inspiradoras al rededor del mundo.

Una de las características más interesantes de Instagram es el gran tráfico que maneja, las tendencias que se generan a través de los "hash tags" (etiquetas) y la posibilidad de creación de lo que yo llamo eventos de Instagram, o desafíos. Por dar un ejemplo, una vez al mes la ilustradora Victoria Gedvillas realiza un evento al que llama #Drawventure y se trata de un día (específicamente un sábado) en el cual se hace un maratón de ilustración con la finalidad de avanzar proyectos personales o simplemente pintar y dibujar sobre lo que se desee; cada quien sube sus creaciones a su perfil de Instagram acompañadas con la etiqueta correspondiente y ese día todos los interesados se mantienen al tanto de los participantes y sus creaciones.

Yo he tenido la oportunidad de participar un par de veces y ha sido grata la recepción que tenido de parte de otros participantes. En el último #drawventure (mes de junio) quise realizar una serie de cuatro (4) mini pinturas (o tarjetas de colección que en inglés son llamadas ACEOs) pero sólo pude realizar tres (3)... En ninguna de las dos oportunidades que he participado he podido llegar a mi meta y es que los sábados se me complica mucho aislarme de mi vida social, familiar, conyugal, etc etc etc sobre todo porque es en los sábados cuando realmente tengo vida social :(. Así que, generalmente termino subiendo las últimas pinturas el domingo cuando ya no vale (x_x)

Sin embargo, ese sábado por la noche, y gracias al evento de Victoria, pude enterarme de otro evento convocado por un ilustrador brasilero que es muy talentoso. Recibía el nombre de #7colorchallenge y era una idea muy divertida: cada día durante una semana debía realizarse un dibujo en el cual resaltara un color del arco iris en particular y él establecía qué color correspondía a cada día. A todas estas yo ingresé tarde al evento pero fue muy muy divertido y tuve la oportunidad de también conocer a otros artistas muy talentosos :D.

Así que chicos, si algunos de ustedes también se encuentran aventurando dentro del mundo de la ilustración les recomiendo salir en la búsqueda de estos eventos en Instagram porque no sólo son buenos para conocer a otros artistas sino que también son una buena herramienta para la creatividad.

About Instagram events.

Since I restarted my illustration adventure in the last few months I realized that there are so many new social media networks for artists. Instagram, for example, which is the one that I have used more often and it have helped me to discover some great and inspirational illustrators around the world.


One of the most interesting characteristics about Instagram is its hash tags and the opportunities around them such as Instagram events (that is how I called them) or challenges. For example, every month the artist Victoria Gedvillas invites everyone to join her #drawventure challenge and it is about an illustration marathon day (usually a Saturday) on which you can draw anything that your heart desires. This is how everybody uploads their drawings on their own Instagram profiles, together with the corresponding hash tag, and that day all the interested people keep abreast of other participants and their creations.

I had the opportunity to participate twice on this challenge and it was really nice the welcome that I receive from Victoria's followers. In the past #drawventure (June's) I wanted to make four (4) mini paintings (ACEOs) but I only made three (3)... No one of the times I have joined #drawventure I could ever end my own goals!! It is so hard to me to scape away from social relationships (familiars, friends, etc etc etc) on a Saturday mostly because is on Saturdays when I actually have social activities :( ... So, I usually end uploading part of my #drawventure challenge entries on Sundays when they doesn't count anymore (x_x).

Anyway! Nevertheless, I had the luck to find another event while uploading my entries for Victoria's challenge :D. This time was a really talented Brazilian guy who made up a #7colorschallenge, this one was a really fun event idea which consisted on uploading a different drawing every day during a week with a specific leading color on every each of them according to the artist guidance. I joined too late to this event but it was anyway super super fun and I found Instragam profiles of more talented artists! :D.

So guys, if anyone of you are starting with your own illustration adventure, I fully recommend you to look for those Instagram events out there because they are great for meeting more talented and inspirational artists and, moreover, they are ideal as creativity exercises.
